I was at work, feeling sluggish, and thinking about getting a Coke. I checked Twitter before getting up, and saw a tweet from NoFizz America challenging us to give up soda and/or high fructose corn syrup. It clicked; it was really a why not kind of moment for me.
I’ve been good with the program; so far I’ve slipped once and had a throwback Mountain Dew, but that has been my only artificially sweetened beverage since April 21.

The part that appealed to me was the unobtrusiveness of the program. I can participate in the daily chatter, or just go about my business. I also like how NoFizz America is using technology to positively impact the lives of people throughout Charlotte. Take me; I’ve never met them but somehow, they have convinced me to change my diet and I’ve lost 3 pounds in the first two weeks. It has left both my wife and I with a positive impression of NoFizz America!
There really hasn’t been a tough part about giving up soda. I’ve switched to water and I’m not having headaches or any other negative effects.
But there have been multiple benefits. NoFizz America has made me more aware of my diet in general, and I’m opting to make better decisions. I’m focusing on staying hydrated by drinking water throughout my day. My acne is even clearing up. My wife is on board now and we don’t have a single soda in the house anymore.
I think it is awesome that it was all started by a random tweet!
