I decided to take the NoFizzUSA challenge after seeing information about it on the news late one night. It was after I got back to Charlotte from being on Thanksgiving break from school [Johnson and Wales University], and I was in the process of trying to figure out ways to be healthier as well as ways to help me lose weight.

Suddenly, NoFizzUSA popped up on the TV. I was very interested in what it had to offer so I decided to visit the website. Within minutes I had already signed the pledge and posted the link on my Facebook account.

To my surprise, several of my friends “liked” my posted link, and commented that they were going to sign up with me and do the challenge for the month of December.

It has now been over a month since I decided to take the” fizz” out of my life, and I can honestly say I do not miss it. It really was not too hard of a challenge for me.

I bought two reusable water bottles and carried at least one of them with me wherever I went to ensure that I drank enough water to replace the soda. To spruce up my water I occasionally added Crystal Light packets to get a sweet taste if I was craving it.

Not only have I been able to complete the challenge I have also been able to lose 10 pounds because of it! I know I have a lot more to go but I am very glad to have discovered this program because it has enabled me to man up to the challenge of better health, and focus on “me” for once in my life.

As of now, I am trying to get my university to sign up for the challenge as well as choosing to go without fizz for the entire year of 2011!
