The Charlotte CheckMates

Being a Checkers CheckMate isn’t just about looking pretty and cheering on our favorite hockey team at Time Warner Cable Arena. Along with community service projects and outreach, a large portion of a CheckMate’s lifestyle is devoted to health and fitness. After all, how else would we be able to fit in our outfits for every game?!
We took on this challenge to push what is important to us to the next level. We all drink water, but sometimes we may not remember to drink as much water as we need, and the NoFizzUSA 60 at 60 Hydration Challenge helped us become more aware of our water intake each day.
For example, our CheckMate Sheena will typically drink one liter of water per day. But now, after taking on the challenge, she is pushing herself to drink a full two liters to complete her 60 ounces every day and be more aware of her hydration levels.
It seemed that everyone noticed immediate results from drinking more water. “Although I thought sodas would give me more energy because of the caffeine, I found I have far more energy when I am drinking water and eating a healthy diet,” CheckMate Amber reveals. “The sugar in the sodas actually makes me drag more than it does pick me up.”
CheckMate Kristi even noticed that she no longer felt a crash at 2:30pm every day like she used to feel – as a direct result of drinking more water and less soda.
This challenge has overall led us to feel healthier and have more energy than we would have by drinking soda. This especially comes in handy because we are always on the go with appearances, games, work outs, practices and more!
CheckMates Kim and Lindsey both shared that after drinking more water, they were able to make healthier choices when it came to eating and exercising.
We are excited to be 47 days into the challenge and still going strong! We are especially looking forward to turning this challenge into a lifestyle and continuing to drink 60 ounces of water daily, even after our 60 days is up.
